  • The staff research seminar series was first launched in 2016 soon after the College was given the University status and following this upgrade, a research center was established. Staff training was one of the very first activities conducted by Center for Research and Publication (CRP).

  • PG research skills and training and personal development programme is developed to provide PG students at IUM the support and training needed to be competent and skillful researchers and individuals.  Hence, the PG students at IUM are required to enroll in a number of these workshops during the period of their programme in order to be able to graduate.

    The programme is designed annually based on the following elements;

    1. Training requirements requested by students
    2. Training requirements identified by supervisor
    3. Training requirements identified by PG center which are compulsory for PG students

  • “Ilmee Gunzar” is a local phrase that has relevance to spread of knowledge and discussions.  “Ilmee” refers to knowledge in Dhivehi. The word “Gunzar” refers to a round structure around which people can sit for discussions. Historically, these structures were built on the beach in some islands of Maldives and also at individual people’s homes. Faseelath ul Sheikh Salahuddeen used to deliver religious lectures and hold religious discussions around a “Gunzar” at his home.  “Ilmee Guzar” launched in 2017 is an appropriate term for CRP research discussion seminar series which are held every month, where staff and students are given the opportunity to present a research paper and lead a discussion based on the topic of the paper presented.
