IUM Research Promotion Scheme (IRPS)

Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) provides assistance to full time staff and students for collaborative and individual and interdisciplinary research and professional development through IUM Research Promotion Scheme (IRPS). This scheme is set up to provide support for a wide range of activities provided that these activities support the purpose as stated below.

The purpose of IRPS scheme is to support the development of research in IUM and in so doing enhance the research profile of the University and staff and to enable the University to realize one of its key goals, that of disseminating knowledge that is relevant and useful for the wider Maldivian community.

Through ‘IUM Research Promotion Scheme’, Center for Research and Publication hopes to encourage the University staff to undertake collaborative research and support them to carry out research that has relevance to Maldivian community.  Hence, this scheme aims to;

  • Encourage staff to undertake collaborative research
  • Provide financial support to staff in IUM
  • To promote competitiveness and quality in research undertaken by IUM staff

PG research Grant Scheme

The primary role of ‘PG Research Grant Scheme’ is to provide support for students enrolled in masters and doctoral programs in the University. The program is also designed to promote high quality, impactful research that is both innovative and make a useful contribution to society.

IUM Innovation Project

This scheme aims to encourage staff and students to publish and produce innovative materials as a way of disseminating knowledge and creating awareness in the Maldivian society. It aims to stimulate creative and innovative thinking about opportunities having an impact on a large scale on the wider community. The materials may be a set of books for children, animations, educational software, tools or service idea and so on.

Funding to attend conferences

IUM encourages staff and students to prepare and present papers at local and international conferences. Each year IUM aims to provide two opportunities for selected staff and students to attend conferences.
