Overview

IUM Library is one of the nation’s largest academic Library with a rich Arabic collection as well as a growing collection of English and Dhivehi resources which serves to support learning and teaching as per the University’s curriculum. Library is fully automated with KOHA Integrated Library System to support Collection Management, Circulation and to facilitate Online Public Access Catalogue.

Library is a cozy and quiet environment equipped with new and improved facilities to support lifelong learning. In the new era of fast technological development, Library is transforming towards digital advancement.

Warm Welcome to the Islamic University of Maldives Library!

Our commitment is to deliver a quality service with politeness, respect and dedication to support learning and teaching with the collaboration of Faculties and Centers.

The Library is a comfortable and quiet zone facilitating for study and research, providing access to both physical and online resources. We help to build information literacy skills and gather information plus apply in their study and research effectively and efficiently in this vast information era.

Library is plays a vital role to support in implementing University’s Strategic Plan as well, specially aiming to the Mission and Vision of the Library.

Our advice is to :

Read! Read for life-long learning to re-shape a better future in the learning and teaching environment
Spare at least 30 minutes per day from your valuable time to read a book or enrich your knowledge!
Make our Library as your study and research home, before you graduate and leave the University.

It is an honor for me to work within the University community and I will not miss this golden opportunity to further develop our Library. Hence we, the Library team look forward to re-build our resources and improve library services with the advanced technology.

Our Services

Online library services are available for all library users as an additional enrichment for their studies. In addition to the physical collection, IUM Library provides an increasing number of online resources, including access to databases, journals and ebooks. Inter-Library Loan service is being set up with collaboration of Maldives National University (MNU) Library to provide access to more resources for users of both universities with the aim of sharing resources.

Our Collection

Our collection caters for all subjects mainly on Islam, Education, Language and literature, Law, Social Science, etc. in English, Dhivehi and Arabic. Special collection of books and journals on Islamic Finance, Islamic Research, Islamic Shari’ah and law. Library has a mass collection of Arabic books ranging from Hadith, Tafsir, Aqidah, Fiqh & Fatwas to Islamic history, Language and Literature. Dhivehi collection has journals such as Dharuma, Faiythoora, Dhi Islam, Furadhaana, Liyuntheriya, etc. Library collection would be further developed with the purpose of supporting university’s curriculum and meeting the needs of the users.

The Vision of the IUM Library is to establish and develop a strong digital library with institutional repository or archives and to become a vibrant part of the University academic community.

Our Mission

The Mission of the IUM Library is to enhance and enrich learning and teaching of the University by providing easy access to all formats of information disregarding the type of users.

Accomplishments

2016

After the renovation IUM Library was re-opened by the Minister of Education, Dr. Aishath Shiham

2017

Established a rich books and journals collection of International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF) Malaysia, consists of mostly research materials.
Subscribed to INCEIF KMC Portal for Islamic Finance and Banking students and lecturers.
Established a Books and Journals Collection of Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI) Saudi Arabia, plus International Shari’ah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA) Malaysia, consists of mostly research materials.
Library Collections’ stock audit began for the first time. Data editing of the records and re-classification of the books also carried out along with the stock audit process.
Became a member institute of Maldives Library Consortium and under this consortium obtained free license to 8 EIFL Online Resources.
Library Automation project completed. KOHA Integrated Library System is the Library Management System.

2018

IUM’s first Book Fair, in the name of “IQRA”, held at IUM Hall for a period of 2 days.

2019

EbscoHost Database was subscribed to provide access to online resources required for all programs

2020

Upgraded KOHA Integrated Library System.
First Online Book Fair in Maldives held on 1st of December 2020 for a period of one month. A total of 25 various activities for all ages conducted online, throughout the Book fair within the first 10 days period. This online platform is opened as a permanent platform.

2021

Inter-Library Loan Service agreement, signed between IUM Library and MNU Library, on 14 January 2021 and introduced the service.
Obtained free access to National Digital Library of India.

އައިޔޫއެމް ލައިބްރަރީއަކީ މުއްސަނދި ޢަރަބި ފޮތްބަޔަކާއި އަދި ދިވެހި، އިނގިރޭސި ބައިވެސް ހިމެނޭ ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގައި ހުރި ބޮޑު އެއް އެކެޑެމިކް ލައިބްރަރީއެވެ. ޔުނިވަރސިޓީގެ ކަރިކިޔުލަމާ އެއްގޮތްވާ ގޮތުގެ މަތިން އުނގެނުމަށާއި އުނގަންނައިދިނުމަށް ބޭނުންވާ އެންމެހާ މަޢުލޫމާތާއި ވަސީލަތްތައް ފޯރުކޮށްދޭ ލައިބްރަރީއެކެވެ. ލައިބްރަރީގެ އެންމެހާ މަސައްކަތްތައްކޮށް ބެލެހެއްޓުމާއި ޚިދުމަތްތައް ފޯރުކޮށްދެނީ ފުރިހަމަ އޮޓޮމޭޓޭޑް ލައިބްރަރީއެއްގެ ގޮތުގައި ކޯހާ އިންޓަރގްރޭޓެޑް ލައިބްރަރީ ސިސްޓަމް މެދުވެރިކޮށެވެ.

ޚިދުމަތްތައް

ލައިބްރަރީ ބޭނުންކުރާ ފަރާތްތަކަށް އޮންލައިން ލައިބްރަރީގެ ޚިދުމަތް ދިނުމުގެ ގޮތުން، ޕްރިންޓްކޮށްފައި ހުންނަ ފޮތާއި މަޖައްލާގެ އިތުރުން އޮންލައިން ޑޭޓާބޭސްގެ ޚިދުމަތްވެސް ވަނީ ފުޅާކުރެވިފައެވެ. ލައިބްރަރީ ޚިދުމަތާއި މަޢުލޫމާތު އަދި ވަސީލަތްތައް ބަދަލުކުރުމުގެ މަޤްޞަދުގައި، ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ ޤައުމީ ޔުނިވަރސިޓީ ލައިބްރަރީއާއި ގުޅިގެން އިންޓަރ-ލައިބްރަރީ ލޯންގެ ޚިދުމަތްވެސްވަނީ ދެ ލައިބްރަރީ ބޭނުންކުރާ ފަރާތްތަކަށް ތަޢާރަފްކުރެވިފައެވެ.

އައިޔޫއެމް ލައިބްރަރީގެ މިޝަންއަކީ ޔުނިވަރސިޓީގެ އުނގެނުމަށާއި އުނަގަންނައިދިނުމަށް ބޭނުންވާ ހުރިހާ ފޯމެޓެއްގައި ހުންނަ މަޢުލޫމާތު ތަފާތު ކުރުމެއްނެތި ފަސޭހަކަމާއިއެކު ލިބޭނެ މަގުފަހިކޮށްދިނުމެވެ.

އައިޔޫއެމް ލައިބްރަރީގެ ތަސައްވުރަކީ ފެންވަރު ރަނގަޅު ޑިޖިޓާލް ލައިބްރަރީއެއް ޔުނިވަރސިޓީގެ އަރުޝީފަކާއެކު ޤާއިމްކޮށް ޚިދުމަތްދިނުމާއެކު ޔުނިވަރސިޓީގެ އެކެޑެމިކް ކޮމިޔުނިޓީގެ މުހިއްމުރޯލެއް އަދާކުރާ ލައިބްރަރީއަކަށް ވުމެވެ.

2016 މެއި ލައިބްރަރީ ޒަމާނާއެއްގޮތަށް ބަދަލުކޮށް ތަރައްޤީކުރުމަށްފަހު އަލުން ހުޅުވައިދެއްވީ، ތަޢުލީމީ ވުޒާރާގެ ވަޒީރު، ޑރ. ޢާއިޝަތު ޝިހާމް
2017 މާރޗް އިންޓަރނޭޝަނަލް ސެންޓަރ ފޮރ އެޑިޔުކޭޝަން އިން އިސްލާމިކް ފައިނޭންސް (އިންސީފް)ގެ ފޮތާއި މަޖައްލާގެ މުއްސަނދީ ބައެއް ލައިބްރަރީގައި ޤާއިމްކުރެވުނު.
2017 އެޕްރީލް ޚާއްޞަކޮށް އިސްލާމިކް ފައިނޭންސް އަދި ބޭންކިންގ ދާއިރާގެ ދަރިވަރުންނަށާއި މުދައްރިސުންނަށް އިންސީފް ކޭއެމްސީ ޕޯޓަލަށް ސަބްސްކްރައިބްކުރެވުނު.
2017 އެޕްރީލް އިސްލާމިކް ރިސާރޗް އެންޑް ޓްރެއިނިންގ އިންސްޓިޓިއުޓް (އިރްތީ) ސައުދީ ޢަރަބިޔާގެ އަދި ޝަރީޢާ ރިސާރޗް އެކެޑެމީ ފޮރ އިސްލާމިކް ފައިނޭންސް (އިސްރާ) މެލޭޝިޔާގެ ފޮތާއި މަޖައްލާގެ މުއްސަނދީ ބައެއް ލައިބްރަރީގައި ޤާއިމްކުރެވުނު.
2017 މެއި ފުރަތަމަ ފަހަރަށް ލައިބްރަރީގެ ފޮތް ބައިތަކުގެ އޮޑިޓެއް ކުރަން ފެށުނު. އަދި ފޮތްތަކުގެ ރިކޯޑްސް އިސްލާޙުކުރުމާއި ރީ-ކްލެސިފައިކުރުމުގެ މަސައްކަތްވެސް ސްޓޮކް އޮޑިޓްގެ މަސައްކަތާއެކު ކުރެވުނު.
2017 މެއި ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ ލައިބްރަރީ ކޮންސޯޓިއަމްގެ މެމްބަރު އިންސްޓިޓިއުޓަކަށް ވެވުނު އަދި މިކޮންސޯޓީއަމްގެ ދަށުން އިލެކްޓްރޯނިކް އިންފޮރމޭޝަން ފޮރ ލައިބްރަރީސް (އައިފްލް)ގެ 8 އޮންލައިން ރިސޯސަސް ލައިސަންސް ހޯދުނު.
2017 އޮގަސްޓް ކޯހާ އިންޓަރގްރޭޓެޑް ލައިބްރަރީ ސިސްޓަމް މެދުވެރިކޮށް ލައިބްރަރީ އޮޓޮމޭޝަން ޕްރޮޖެކްޓް ނިންމުނު.
2018 ޖުލައި އައިޔޫއެމްގެ ފުރަތަމަ ފޮތް މަޢުރަޒު "އިޤްރައު" ގެ ނަމުގައި އައިޔޫއެމްގެ ހޯލްގައި 2 ދުވަހުގެ މުއްދަތަށް ބޭއްވުނު.
2019 ޑިސެމްބަރ އައިޔޫއެމްގެ ހުރިހާ ކޯސްތަކުގެ މާއްދާތަކަށް ބޭނުންވާ އެބްސްކޯހޮސްޓް ޑޭޓާ ބޭސްއަށް ޗަންދާދައްކަން ފެށުނު.
2020 ފެބްރުއަރީ ކޯހާ އިންޓަރގްރޭޓެޑް ލައިބްރަރީ ސިސްޓަމް އާވަރޝަނަށް އަޕްގްރޭޑްކުރެވުނު.
2020 ޑިސެމްބަރ އައިޔޫއެމްގެ އިޤްރައު ފޮތް މަޢުރަޒު ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ ފުރަތަމަ އޮންލައިން ފޮތް މަޢުރަޒުގެ ގޮތުގައި 1 ޑިސެމްބަރ އިން ފެށިގެން އެއްމަސްދުވަހުގެ މުއްދަތަށް ބޭއްވުނު އަދި އެއަށްފަހު މިއޮންލައިން ޕްލެޓްފޯމް ދާއިމީކޮށް ހުޅުވާލެވުނު. މިމަޢުރަޒުގެ ތެރޭގައި ފުރަތަމަ 10 ދުވަހު، 25 ޙަރަކާތެއް އެކި ޢުމުރުފުރާއަށް ޢަމާޒުކޮށް އޮންލައިންކޮށް ހިންގުނު.
2021 ޖެނުއަރީ އިންޓަރ-ލައިބްރަރީ ލޯން ޚިދުމަތް ދިނުމަށް ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ ޤައުމީ ޔުނިވަރސިޓީ ލައިބްރަރީއާއި އެކު އެއްބަސްވުމެއްގައި ސޮއިކޮށް ޚިދުމަތް ތަޢާރަފްކުރެވުނު.
2021 ޖުލައި އިންޑިއާގެ ނެޝަނަލް ޑިޖިޓާލް ލައިބްރަރީއަށް އެކްސެސް ހޯދުނު.
